Four SPbGASU student teams - case2case, Altitude, Buildchamps and DWG.net reached the finals of the Special League "Architecture, Design and Construction" of the CASE-IN International Engineering Championship, which is part of the presidential platform "Russia - land of opportunites".
The competition brought together more than 400 students from Kazan, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and St Petersburg, studying in key areas for the industry: Architecture, Information Systems and Technologies in Construction, Software Engineering, Reconstruction and restoration of architectural heritage, Civil Engineering, Construction of unique buildings and structures and Management of investment and construction activities.
The working conditions were as close to real as possible: each project team chose a chief project engineer (CIP), distributed the roles of an architect, designer, engineering specialists and TIM coordinator.
On the instructions of the organizers, the participants designed a four-star hotel in Kaliningrad with at least 200 rooms and a total area of no more than 12,000 square meters. In the work on projects, the contestants were assisted by experts in the field of architecture and construction and teachers.
Maria Sobko, captain of the SPbGASU Case2case team, said that she wanted to try herself as a PCE in order to learn how to build project development processes and plan the work of engineers. “When solving the case, we tried to make our building comfortable for hotel visitors, including people with disabilities, correctly fit it into the urban environment of Kaliningrad, and also ensure environmental safety. Our project provides for the widespread use of natural lighting, whitewashing of facades and roofs,” she explained..
The final of the Special League will be held on 1 June, 2023 in Moscow at the site of the XI CASE-IN International Engineering Championship.
