The GardenPRO competition, organized by teachers of the Department of Breeding and Gardening of the Institute of Forest Technologies of the Siberian State University of Science and Technology named after Academician M. F. Reshetnev, is held to attract students to project activities, to promote scientific knowledge and practical skills. This year the theme of the competition was a garden of one ornament. 20 university teams from all over Russia took part in the competition, the jury included well-known landscape architects.
Second-year students of the SPbGASU Faculty of Architecture Viktoria Nikulushkina, Maria Petrova, Anastasia Reader and Lilia Yakovleva, under the supervision of Zoya Aksenova, associate professor at the Department of Architectural Design, developed the project "The House of Gzhel Masters". They shared the first place with the students of the Volga State Technological University.
The "House of Gzhel Masters" project was developed for a family of art historians who are engaged in painting ceramics in the Gzhel style. On the site, in addition to the existing house and garage, it is planned to place a workshop and a gazebo. There is also a small pond. All plants are selected in the color scheme of the Gzhel ornament, their types are selected taking into account the implementation of the project in the temperate climate zone.
“We decided that Gzhel would become our ornamental motif, given its recognizability and pleasant colors. The plasticity of the Gzhel forms became the fundamental planning decision. Of course, we are very happy with our victory! Enormous work has been done, and at the same time we have learned a lot of new things for ourselves: we have deepened our knowledge in landscape design, which is very useful for any architect, strengthened teamwork skills, applied new materials and technologies,” said the authors of the project.
