SPbGASU and Hokkaido University (Japan) signed a Memorandum of Understanding
On October 28, 2019, SPbGASU and Hokkaido University (Japan) signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The event took place during the visit of the delegation of Hokkaido University to SPbGASU.

“There are imperial universities in Japan and there are only seven of them. Hokkaido University is one of those. By the quality of teaching engineering, it is one of the best. I am involved in architecture and urban planning, and I am very pleased to be here today, because your university is so renowned,” said Professor Tsuyoshi Setoguchi of Hokkaido University.
“I have already visited SPbGASU, and I am very glad to be here again. I am glad that our relations are developing. Our cooperation is essential: Hokkaido is located in the northern part of Japan, we have a lot in common,” said another member of the Japanese delegation, Associate Professor Norihiro Watanabe.
How were the guests hosted at the university?
The guests took a tour around one of the oldest technical universities in Russia, and also held talks with representatives of the administration and faculty of the university. Irina R. Lugovskaya, vice-rector for external relations, informed the participants of the foreign delegation about the educational and scientific activities of the university, about its momentous projects and international relations.
The university has what to be proud of: the Smart City project office is operating here; within the framework of the SAFECON international project, the Smart Work park is being created on the basis of SPbGASU; the implementation of the BIM-ICE international project is on the run. The university is an active participant in the Erasmus+ program. Students from India, China, Poland, Bulgaria and other countries participate in summer student schools at SPbGASU. The university participates in the implementation of double degree programs in conjunction with two universities in Finland.
“Next spring, the third international BIM conference will take place: “BIM-modeling in the construction and architecture.” We invite Japanese experts to take part,” said I. R. Lugovskaya.
On the same day, representatives of Hokkaido University met with students of the SPbGASU Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Urban Economics. Japanese scientists talked about their experience in designing facilities located in difficult climatic conditions, and invited students to the summer school of Hokkaido University.
