SPbGASU at the 3rd Architecture Festival GreenFest – 2019 on Russian Island

Essential issues of modern cities were discussed at the 3rd Architecture Festival GreenFest – 2019, part of the 1st Architectural Forum "Man and the City".

The head of the SPbGASU Department of Management in Construction, Alexander A. Petrov and associate professor of the SPbGASU Department of Technosphere Safety Valery V. Georghiadi attended the event held at the Far Eastern Federal University.

Brief overview of what the scientists spoke about

A. A. Petrov in his report examined the practical aspects of the implementation of investment and construction projects of green building. He offered an analysis of the specifics of green building projects at the district and regional level and formulated the signs of the classification for these projects, and considered the existing experience of the implementation of environmental projects in housing.

He proposed an approach to the formation of the organizational and economic mechanism for the implementation of green construction projects. This mechanism includes tools encouraging developers to apply green standards. With that aim, the creation of a network of organizations of “green” building at the district-regional level was proposed.

V.V. Georgiadi touched upon the issues of protecting constitutional rights, property, personal information of citizens in connection with the transition to information modeling in the field of housing and communal services. He drew attention of the audience to the need to create interoperable algorithms for the operation of such information models as “Construction”, “Operation”, “MKD”, “Transport Stream”, “Heat Supply”, “Water Supply and Sewerage” based on including the processes of interaction and mutual influence of these processes. He also mentioned the lack of qualified personnel in the POAs and management companies. the speaker is sure: in addition to GOSTs and codes of practice, an integrated approach is needed to eliminate the shortcomings, i.e., an integral "Smart City" algorithm.

“The processes of urban environment managing are multidimensional and have different target, physical, and organizational principles and nature. Besides, they are dispersed in time and space. The “Smart city” should not only effectively influence the urban environment, but also predict the impact of various managerial decisions on it,” V.V. Georgiadi is sure.

Outcomes of the business trip

The reports of A. A. Petrov and V. V. Georgiadi caused a great resonance in the audience composed of personnel of the Primorsky Regional administration, city administrations, construction and design organizations, architects, students, teachers, guests from the UK, Italy, South Korea and Japan. The event’s issues contributed to the understanding of sustainable urban development, the formation of a fundamentally new attitude to such pressing topics as environment, energy saving, and creating a comfortable environment for human living.
