SPbGASU became the winner of the 5th Geotechnical Games

The 5th International Training and Practical Youth Conference on Geotechnics and the 5th Geotechnical Games, held at the end of September 2019 in Moscow, turned into momentous events for young geotechnicians: SPbGASU won the team ratings of the Geotechnical Games. In addition, Vyacheslav Efimov, postgraduate student of SPbGASU, won in the individual competition, and Vyacheslav Polunin, also a postgraduate student, won the silver award.

The winning team led by Vladimir V. Konyushkov, associate professor of the SPbGASU Department of Geotechnics included postgraduate students Philipp Kalach, Vyacheslav Efimov, Andrey Boyarintsev, Le Van Chong, Vyacheslav Polunin, graduate student Mariyka Dudko and undergraduate student Alexandra Zybtseva. All team members showed a high level of knowledge.

Mariyka Dudko, second-grade Master’s degree student commented:

The event was divided into five blocks. After each block, participants were awarded scores and depending on them, a certain rating was compiled. Those who got the maximum number of scores reached the final. The most difficult was the final blitz survey. But we did it! Last year we participated in the Geotechnical Games in Tyumen, and now we have won in Moscow! We hope that next year Geotechnical games will be held at our university!

More about the games participants

Members of the SPbGASU team not only played, but also made presentations. Postgraduate student Philipp Kalach highlighted the topic of modern injection materials in geotechnics. Vyacheslav Efimov made a presentation on the topic of "Assessment of shear sedimentation of piles." A representative survey in the construction sciences was the topic of the speech by Andrey Boyarintsev. Le Van Chong talked about deep piles. Alexandra Zybtseva examined the influence of the foundation material on the depth of freezing of the soil.

We congratulate the winners and wish them continued success!
