SPbGASU celebrated International University Sports Day
From 18 to 21 September, the SPbGASU sports club "Lisy" held competitions dedicated to the International University Sports Day. The award ceremony took place on 28 September.
Arm wrestling
The competition was attended by 273 students who defended the honor of their faculties in nine sports: chess, jump rope, "Fun run", darts, table tennis, basketball 3×3, arm wrestling, tug of war, power biathlon. For each place, the faculties were awarded points: for the first – five, for the second – four, for the third – three, and for the rest – one.
Darts
The places were distributed as follows:
- 1st place – faculty of civil engineering (30 points);
- second place – faculty of architecture (21 points);
- third place – faculty of environmental engineering and municipal services (20 points);
- fourth place – the faculty of forensics and law in construction and transport (18 points);
- fifth place – faculty of automobile and road building (17 points);
- sixth place – faculty of economics and management (15 points).
Table tennis
Congratulating the winners, Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Irina Lugovskaia wished them new sporting achievements and urged them to support initiatives related to the development of physical culture and a healthy lifestyle. “You can see athletes immediately, not only their look is different, but also the spirit,” she stressed.
Members of the table tennis team of the faculty of forensics and law in construction and transport have been preparing for the competition for several months. And for good reason: the team took first place. “We purposefully went to win,” says third-year student Nikita Smolyaninov. “We went through each stage confidently and in the final we beat the ADF team with a score of 2:1,” said Ivan Zuev, a third-year bachelor's student.

About other competitions planned for the near future, Oksana Safonova, director of the SPbGASU sports club "Lisy", said: "On 26 November, student competitions in power complexes" Path to Health "will be held. Most likely, we will take exercises from the GTO complex ("fit for labour and defense") to check the level of physical fitness of students. In December, we will hold an individual university chess championship.”

International University Sports Day was established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Federation of International University Sports (FISU) in 2015 and is celebrated on 20 September.
