SPbGASU Evaluated the Student Mobile App Design Proposals
On 25 November, Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering finalised the results of a competition to design the layout of the university’s mobile application for students.

✔ Developing the SPbGASU mobile app is aimed to facilitate access to the university’s e-learning resources and services and to expand possibilities for communication between students and teachers. The demand for such an application was discussed in late August at a meeting of Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Svetlana Golovina, Vice Rector for Science Evgeny Korolev and Vice Rector for Education and Methodological Work Sergey Mikhailov with the university’s student activists.
The students’ initiative group identified the target audience and conducted a survey to determine the starting parameters of the future app. The Academic Council approved the regulations for the competition, which started on 25 October. Twenty-one participants expressed their intention to take part: 14 of them submitted individual applications, and seven more as members of three teams. At the end of the application process ten projects were approved for evaluation, and all the SPbGASU faculties were represented.
The competition was organised in two stages: the first was held remotely and the final round was an in-person event. The expert group was composed of the faculty and administrative staff as well as students. It also included one of SPbGASU alumni and a representative from ITMO University. Five participants managed to reach the final. Although the competition was held among current students, SPbGASU graduate Polina Yunkina also presented her project, which was hailed by the expert jury and evaluated as an out-of-competition proposal.
The prizes were distributed as follows:
1st place: Roman Zhdanov, student of the Institute of Part-Time Studies;
2nd place: Ekaterina Kholuyanova, postgraduate student of the Faculty of Architecture;
3rd place: Anastasiya Klimshina, student of the Faculty of Forensics and Law in Construction and Transport.
Winners and participants received diplomas, certificates and valuable gifts. In the future they be able to join the group of mobile application developers.
A large number of interested participants took part in the competition. Students, administrative staff, representatives of the academic and expert community all worked together.
Projects defended by the students left a very positive impression. The designed mobile app will fully meet our students’ needs,” believes Sergey Mikhailov, Vice Rector for Education and Methodological Work and Chairman of the competition's organising committee.
