The opening of the SPbGASU BIM Championship 2020
✔ Digitalization of all processes is recognized by experts as one of the most important tasks facing the construction industry today. In this regard, BIM technologies are attaining great significance, and universities pay much attention to BIM learning.
This time, SPbGASU has arranged the All-Russian BIM Championship in a distance format. There are 6 teams competing: the Russian–Finnish team of SPbGASU, the SPbGASU team and teams from four other Russian universities: Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (MGSU), Tyumen Industrial University (TIU), Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (NNGASU) and Ural Federal University (UrFU, Yekaterinburg).
Each team consists of an architect, a design engineer, a heating engineer, a ventilation engineer, a water supply and sewerage engineer, and a cost engineer.
This year, the co-organizers of the Championship are the National Association of Surveyors and Designers (NOPRIZ) and “Etalon Project” LLC. The experts are specialists representing the companies “Amkad”, “Etalon Project”, “Renaissance Construction», “Metropolis” Peak-Project”, “Peak-Project”, “NNDevelopment” and “BIMSERT”.
The participants must design a pre-school educational institution for 160 places, including developing its information model. The development of the model is carried out taking into account the requirements of regulatory normative acts and in accordance with instructions of the state examination bodies.
At the BIM Championship
– It’s a pity we are meeting remotely this year, but let’s consider that such work is one of the competencies we should develop during the championship, – said Svetlana Golovina, the SPbGASU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, giving a speech at the competition opening. – I hope you will enjoy the teamwork and online communication and will acquire new skills. I think, next year we will all meet in Saint Petersburg and will hold the new championship in a traditional format, so a new level will be reached. I would like to wish everyone successful work.
The Russian Federation has adopted the Strategy for the Development of Digital Economy. SPbGASU keeps pace with the times and trains highly qualified specialists for the digitalized construction industry. The university’s curricular include disciplines that allow to obtain competencies in digitalization and the use of Information Technologies.
SPbGASU is the organizer of the unique BIM Championship, case championship and a conference devoted to IT, as well as a participant on the Russian-Finnish BIM-ICE project. The BIM Championship is one of the most significant large-scale events held at our university, – added Elena Aleksandrova, Director of the Institute of Part-Time Studies of SPbGASU.
Alexander Grimitlin, President of the “AVOK North-West” Association (Russian Association of Engineers for Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning, Heat Supply and Building Thermal Physics), Vice President of the National Association of Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency Organization, Vice President and Chairman of the NOPRIZ Committee for Improving Education Systems addressed the participants:
– It is my great pleasure to welcome you at the opening of the All-Russian BIM Championship held by SPbGASU and I am sure you will demonstrate the excellent knowledge gained in your universities.
– This year the teams have to solve a very difficult task, – says Inna Sukhanova, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services of SPbGASU. – At first glance, it may seem simple, but in reality it is rather complicated for beginning architects, as there are lots of strict requirements and restrictions in this area.
The winners and laureates of the championship will receive awards from the organizers and partners of the event. The final results will be announced on November 30.
