The Olympiad was attended by senior students of the faculty of forensics and law in construction and transport and 70 schoolchildren from St Petersburg, representing gymnasiums No. 622 and No. 652, academic gymnasium No. 56, schools No. 29, No. 534 and No. 619.

The Olympiad participants were given two tracks: the students passed the quest – the investigation of a crime, and the schoolchildren got acquainted with the profession of a forensic expert in a learning-game form.

Associate professor at the Department of Forensics Elena Kuzbagarova introduced the topics of the Olympiad by giving a lecture "Traceology – the science of traces". Ivan Ivanov, professor at the Department of Legal Regulation of Urban-Planning Activities and Transport, delivered a lecture "Using special knowledge in investigating crimes related to illicit trafficking in weapons".

Next, the participants played a game at the stations. Divided into five teams, the schoolchildren attended master classes of fifth-year students of the specialty "Forensics", conducted under the guidance of teachers. At the "Face Shape" station they composed a facial image, at the "Traceological Wars: Revenge of the Disks" station they took fingerprints, at the "Marauder's Map" station they made a description of the individual characteristics of the alleged criminal using his shoes footprints, at the "Lord of Locks" station types of locks and methods of lock snapping were studied, and at the station "Elementary, my dear Watson", held in the educational "courtroom", they solved a crossword puzzle on traceology. Each team visited all of the above stations.

At the end of the event, the gymnasiums and schools represented at the Olympiad were awarded certificates of participation.
