The conference is dedicated to the Year of Science and Technology in Russia and aims to find and support talented youth from Russian regions, to attract students to research activities, to realize the creative potential of senior school pupils and university students, to expand the activities of school and student research societies, and to help schoolchildren in professional self-determination. The organizers of the event are the Interregional Multidisciplinary Centre "Saint Petersburg Education" and the St. Petersburg International Centre "Education without Borders".

“The event has been held since 2004, and during this time hundreds of pupils have expanded their portfolios with awards, diplomas of winners and certificates of participation in the conference. This means that each of them has broaden the perspectives for successful continuation of education in the country's leading universities, including Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering,” noted the rector of SPbGASU Evgeny Rybnov welcoming the participants.

“Our city is open to everyone who wants to learn and to develop, who loves life and is ready to fill it both with words and deeds. Education, science and profession will definitely help with this,” said the chairman of the Council of St. Petersburg Municipalities Vsevolod Belikov.

Director of the Institute of Part-Time Studies at SPbGASU Elena Aleksandrova wished all the participants successful work.

During the first stage of the conference called the Science Day, the participants defended their research papers and projects in front of a jury of representatives of public organizations, university professors, and practising professionals.

Evgeny Stanishevsky from a lyceum in Ufa had studied modern trends in digitalization and the scope of its use. After conducting a survey among classmates and acquaintances, Evgeny concluded that digitalization is the future, because it helps to automate various processes for human convenience. People make purchases online, use the public services portal ("Gosuslugi"), get the necessary information without leaving their homes. Study, work, communication – innovations influence all aspects of life.

Aleksandr Telyatnik from the Krasnodar Region explored methods and techniques of fast calculations to simplify mathematical problems. For example, to multiply a two-digit number by four, you double it twice. To multiply a two-digit number by five, you must multiply it by ten, then divide by two. Aleksandr believes that the memo he developed and distributed among his classmates will be of use.

The SPbGASU Admissions Office organized vocational guidance events for the conference participants: the schoolchildren got acquainted with the university, attended master classes conducted by teachers and students, and learned about the educational process.

✔ “Is there anyone willing to hold this cube? But be careful – it is quite weighty. We create these cubes in our laboratory to test them for various types of loads,” told Vladislav Yesepchuk, a third-year student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering. According to Vladislav, at the very beginning of university studies, students will have to get back to general education again. Later the general subjects will be replaced by engineering disciplines. Gradually, learning will become more difficult, but also more interesting.

Georgy Belsky, a Bachelor's degree graduate and first-year Master's student of the SPbGASU Faculty of Automobile and Road Building, spoke about the university sports sections and the racing car developed by the students. The car is equipped with a hydrogen generator, the advantages of which are environmental safety and an increase in speed characteristics.

Daria Tsyplakova, a second-year student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, invited the schoolchildren to study applied mathematics and computer science at SPbGASU. “After graduation, you will be able to find a job in the field of programming, web technologies, and BIM,” she said.

On April 8-9, the conference was continued at other venues in Saint Petersburg.
