SPbGASU hosted an event for schoolchildren “Education. Science. Profession"
More than 100 schoolchildren from St. Petersburg and Yaroslavl visited SPbGASU on April 15 as part of the career guidance event “Education. Science. Profession". The event dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the university was organized by the admissions committee and the all-Russian public organization "The Small Academy of Sciences "Intelligence of the Future"".
Concert at SPbGASU. Performed by "Made'IRA"
“Our city is very beautiful, perhaps one of the most beautiful in Europe. We love it very much. Many buildings have been designed, built, and restored by our graduates – architects and builders,” greeted the guests Ekaterina Voznyak, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Professor of the Department of Architectural and Urban Planning Heritage.
✔ Students watched a concert of performance groups of the Student creativity club "Kirpich". The concert took in performances by the ArchiTECH hip-hop dance studio, the Drop LA team, a first-year student of the Faculty of automobile and road building Nikita Lavrishchev (vocal) and a first-year student of the Faculty of Architecture Anastasia Vigurskaya (synthesizer), the Made'IRA modern dancing group, musical group "StillNoNames", and modern dancing group "BACKSHOTcrew".
Associate Professor of the Department of Land Transport Technological Machines Nikolai Podoprigora held a master class "What to become in order to enjoy your work." Some participants of the master class received not only useful information, but also real fruits and vegetables - along with advice to develop energy, originality, "fruitiness".
Next, the schoolchildren passed to speed dating – a "quick acquaintance" with the profession. The students informed schoolchildren about the programs of training, talked about how they entered the university, what disciplines they study.
We asked students to share their plans for the future and their impressions of this day.
"Urban Landscape" case
“I would like to become a graphic designer, but I am also considering an architectural direction. I am generally a creative person, I am attracted to this area. I really liked SPbGASU. Students are very creative, it is clear that they like to study here. We were well received,” said Milana Shikhalova, a 10th grade student at School No. 37, Yaroslavl.
“I also see myself in the creative profession. I consider graphic or web design, but also the architectural direction. It’s very cool here, such an atmosphere! ” - shared Elizaveta Kreminskaya, a 10th grade student of the same school.
The Department of Information Technologies organized two case studies for schoolchildren. The classes were held by the head of the department Aleksey Semenov, associate professor of the department Elena Yakhina, senior lecturer Igor Evsikov and graduate student Omar Shakshak. The cases were focused on two popular and in-demand areas – BIM-modeling and web-development.
Case of the Department of Information Technologies
In one lesson, applicants were able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the educational process at SPbGASU, learned about information modeling technologies, got acquainted with the basic tools of Autodesk Revit software, and analyzed several examples of using the Dynamo visual programming environment.
The second case was devoted to website development technologies, which are also studied by students of "Information Systems and Technologies" and "Applied Mathematics and Informatics". During the lesson, the applicants learned about the main technologies used to develop Internet resources, about the knowledge and skills necessary for this, tried to create their own website using HTML and CSS technologies.
“Today, BIM modeling is the basis for the digitalization of all processes in construction, and specialists in this field are in great demand from specialized organizations involved not only in design, but also in the development of BIM software itself. In fact, we are talking about the need for an interdisciplinary specialist who simultaneously possesses knowledge in the field of construction and the skills of a programmer. These are the ones that SPbGASU produces in bachelor's and master's programs "Information Systems and Technologies" and "Applied Mathematics and Informatics",” said Aleksey Semenov.
Cases participants shared their impressions and plans.
“I choose between a technical and information specialty. The lesson on creating websites was very interesting, everything was clearly explained!” – said Artem Ivanov, a 10th grade student of gymnasium No. 116, St. Petersburg.
“Today I learned more than in the previous 10 years of school,” said Kirill Mikhailov, also a tenth-grader of this gymnasium.
“I firmly decided that I want to get a profession related to information technology, but I have not decided which one. Therefore, I will enter the widest possible specialization in order to decide at the university what exactly to choose. I liked the lesson. I refreshed the knowledge that I previously got acquainted with on this topic, ”said Mikhail Ruchiov, another tenth-grader of gymnasium No. 116.
The program of the meeting also included a lesson with the assistant of the Department of Drawing Konstantin Tarasov on the topic "Urban Landscape" and an excursion to the model workshop, which was conducted by second-year students of the Faculty of Architecture Sofia Mironova and Ekaterina Vasilchenko.
“Every day we organize excursions for children from different regions of Russia. For example, over a thousand applicants visited us during the holidays,” said Elvira Tkachenko, Deputy Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee.{gallery name="1904"}
