SPbGASU Rector congratulates on the Victory Day
Dear veterans!
Dear colleagues and students!
I heartily congratulate you on the Great Victory Day!May 9 is a sacred holiday for each of us. It symbolizes the courage and bravery of the people who overcame the most difficult trials and liberated the world from fascism.
We honor the memory of those who fought at the front and selflessly worked in the rear, who survived incredible hardships and revived our country from the ashes of war. Every day and hour of peaceful life, every success of our work and life is paid for by the hardest trials that befell our fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers.
From the first days of the war, students, graduate students, employees, teachers, graduates of our educational institution rallied to their Motherland's defense. More than 950 representatives of the university went to the front, worked in hospitals and medical battalions, served in air defense units. More than 220 people died at the front, from exhaustion and shelling in besieged Leningrad. Their names are listed in the Book of Memory, which is kept in the University History Museum. The column "The Immortal Regiment of LISI-SPbGASU" has been created on the university's website.
In 1945, the LISI was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour in recognition of the contribution of university employees to strengthening the country's defense capability, their steadfastness, and selfless work. Many teachers, staff and students were awarded the medal "For the Defense of Leningrad". Their valor, firmness of spirit, love for the Motherland are an example for those living today. Our civic duty and sacred duty is to be worthy of their memory, to keep the truth about the war, to create and work for the good of the Motherland.
We'll never forget the heroes who fell on the battlefields! We express our deepest gratitude to the living veterans of the war, defenders of the Motherland, and those who left us in peacetime before this bright holiday!
Health, prosperity, peaceful skies to you!
