SPbGASU representative took part in the accelerator "Digitalization of education"
From November 10 to December 14, the international accelerator "Digitalization of Education 2021" was held for teachers of educational institutions, dedicated to the introduction of virtual reality (VR) technologies into the educational process. SPbGASU was represented by Yury Zgoda, assistant and post-graduate student of the Department of Computer Science.

An accelerator is a common form of business events that involves an intensive educational program. However, accelerators are rarely held in the field of education. The event was organized by VR Concept LLC, a developer of a virtual prototyping application for teamwork with digital twins in virtual reality.
At the first stage of the accelerator, the students got acquainted with various theoretical and practical aspects of the application of virtual reality technology in a wide variety of areas: education, construction, mechanics, medicine, etc. To move on to the next stages, the participants had to complete various tasks on the subject of the accelerator with increasing complexity . Of the 1996 participants who registered for the accelerator, only 20 made it to the final and presented to the expert jury the results of their work on the final task: projects of training events involving the use of virtual reality technology.
✔ Yury Zgoda successfully passed all the stages and took part in the finals of the accelerator, where he presented to an expert jury a class project, the topic of which was interactive visualization of buildings and structures using virtual reality.
Such a class would introduce students to the main scenarios for the use of virtual reality technology in construction and, in particular, in BIM modeling. It would help master the skills of interacting with a model in virtual reality, learn how to visualize interdisciplinary collisions, and use visualization tools for explosion diagrams of buildings and structures. According to the results of the accelerator, SPbGASU representative took the third place.
Virtual reality is one of the most promising and rapidly developing technologies in the construction industry. Its integration into the educational process allows not only to increase the effectiveness of student learning, but also to form in them the competencies that are in demand related to the use of VR in solving problems of architecture and construction. The SPbGASU Department of Information Technologies actively explores new directions for the application of this technology in teaching, research and practice.
