The Congress is held in accordance with the instruction of the President of the Russian Federation following a joint meeting of the State Council and the Presidential Council for Science and Education.

More than 3,000 participants from Russia and more than 40 countries of the world came to the forum.

SPbGASU was represented at the forum by the chairman of the Council of young scientists of the University, associate professor at the department of transport maintenance, PhD of engineering sciences Aleksey Marusin and students of the Faculty of automobile and road building Ivan Piontkovsky (fourth year) and Irina Marusina (second year).

Under the supervision of Aleksey Marusin, SPbGASU students actively participated in the program of the Congress of Young Scientists, attended sections and were involved in volunteer activities within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology projects.

Irina Marusina especially noted the sections "Intellectual contests and competitions as a tool for attracting talents to science" and "Russian scientific communication: how to replace foreign information services?". According to her, "discussions at these sections showed new opportunities for implementing ideas in scientific activities and applying them in practice."

Ivan Piontkovsky became one of the few scientific volunteers awarded the right to present the Nasha Laba equipment exhibition at the congress. The Nasha Laba project, or more officially, the People's Catalog of Scientific Equipment and Consumables, accumulates and systematizes information about scientific instruments produced in Russia and the Republic of Belarus. Now the catalog contains almost eight thousand items from one and a half hundred manufacturers. Within the framework of the congress, an exhibition of goods from the Nasha Laba catalogs was held, at which almost 200 pieces of equipment and about 600 consumables from four dozen Russian and Belarusian enterprises were presented.

The catalog was compiled by the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in the Scientific and Educational Spheres of the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for Science and Education and the Youth Council of the All-Russian Society of Inventors and Innovators. Ivan Piontkovsky participated in the monitoring and analysis of databases of scientific equipment within the framework of the project. Among other volunteers, for his contribution to the development of the Nasha Laba project, he received gratitude from the chairman of the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in the Scientific and Educational Spheres, Nikita Marchenkov, and the chairman of the Youth Council of the All-Russian Society of Inventors and Innovators, Olga Tarasova.
