SPbGASU Reveals the Formula for a Successful Career

Where to start your career path? How to become a member of the scholarship program, conclude a target agreement with the employer? Answers to these and other topical questions were sought on 25 November at SPbGASU as part of a large-scale career guidance program with the participation of employers in the region "Formula for a Successful Career".

The event, organized by the Admissions Committee and the Student and Alumni Employment Assistance Service, brought together senior pupils from eight St Petersburg schools.

Welcoming the applicants, SPbGASU Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Irina Lugovskaia emphasized that the university, founded 190 years ago, provides a really good education. Its graduates have a guaranteed future, because builders have always been and will be in demand.

Marina Malyutina, Head of the Division for Study Administration, invited applicants to the SPbGASU friendly family: “You can choose one of our six faculties and two institutes for study. We implement more than 90 basic educational programs and more than 96 additional professional education programs. We cooperate with more than 350 large companies and are leaders in the field of training in building  and structures information modeling technologies, labour safety technologies in the construction industry. Studying with us is interesting and promising.”

On the dialogue platform “Here and now! Choosing a profession within 50 minutes” students met with employers to learn first hand about the situation on the labour market in the construction industry.

Andrey Chirkov, deputy manager of the investment and construction project of the Etalon group, advised setting a goal and moving towards it consistently, step by step.

SPbGASU graduates Taras Koval, President of the Association of Transport Experts and Specialists, and Sergey Vorobyov, co-owner of Green-Truck SPb, spoke about their professional paths.

Maksim Ovchinnikov, CEO of the Topomatik Research and Production Company, an SPbGASU graduate, emphasized that at present much attention is paid to the development of software in the field of transport construction. Interest in this field of activity is huge, and all the necessary knowledge can be obtained within the walls of SPbGASU.

Students and teachers of the university, representatives of the North-Western Marketing Directorate – a branch of Knauf GIPS LLC (St Petersburg) held exciting master classes for schoolchildren.

“I show the guys in miniature how the construction site works. They have the opportunity to try themselves in the role of builders: dig a pit, transfer the soil to a dump truck and take it away. At the same time, they need to work in sync,” said Maria Ershova, a second-year master's student at the Faculty of Civil Engineering.

“We are demonstrating how to make the draft part of the layouts, and we invite schoolchildren to take part in this,” said Ekaterina Vasilchenko, a third-year bachelor's student at the Faculty of Architecture, who taught a master class with another student from her group, Sofia Mironova.

“This is my fourth time at SPbGASU. Today I learned a lot about professions, about university graduates who have achieved success, and this is inspiring,” shared Vsevolod Yakovlev, an eleventh grade pupil at the St Petersburg school No. 219. Vsevolod plans to enter SPbGASU in the direction "Industrial and civil engineering". We wish him and other applicants good luck!
