SPbGASU sports in self isolation

Under the conditions of universal self-isolation, student athletes have a particularly difficult time: in the hard situation of distance learning, they continue combining studies and intensive training to keep up the athletic form they gained by training and participating in competitions throughout the year. Athletic trainer Oksana Safonova and trainer Natalya Lesheva in rhythmic gymnastics and aerobics proved to be particularly creative in organizing the students’ training process under these conditions.

The maximum enthusiasm and diligence in training was shown by the athletes of the teams of playing sports: football players (coach Igor Moskalenko), volleyball players (coach Vladimir Getman), boxers (coach Konstantin Bakeshin), judokas and sambo athletes (coach Sergey Til), as well as athletes involved in polyathlon and GTO (coach - Leonid Onuchin).

We thank our student-athletes, the captains and managers of the university’s teams for their help and participation in the university’s sports life: Anna Minina (cheer-sport), Konstantin Shakhverdov (tourism), Yakov Reshetnikov (floorball and e-sports), George Vasyukov (darts), Karina Temirbulatova (GTO all-around).

In the conditions of self-isolation, students receive daily assignments and send video reports on their work to their coaches. Teachers of the department developed tests to determine the functional state and physical readiness of students; team coaches actively use these techniques in the training process.

We hope that the period of restrictions will end soon in the sports sections too, and the university’s teams will resume active preparation for future starts.
