SPbGASU students volunteer for the national population census

The All-Russian population census 2021 is taking place from 15 October to 14 November. More than a hundred students from Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering will take part as census takers. The volunteers will work in their spare time and will be remunerated.

The census is aimed to calculate the size of the population and its characteristics, such as education, citizenship, nationality, native language, marital status, number of children, etc. All these data will form the basis of important government programmes and help with long-term planning of the country's development.

This year, there are three ways to take part in the enumeration: wait for a census taker at home; visit one of the enumeration offices (addresses will appear on the census website); or fill in the questionnaire on the Public Services Portal.

Each enumerator will wear a blue waistcoat with reflective stripes and a scarf and will be equipped with a census-branded bag, a flashlight and an electronic tablet. The enumerator will show his or her passport and ID card on first request.

The census staff are provided with personal protective equipment: reusable masks and gloves; the census offices will operate in compliance with all the measures recommended by Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare).

As part of the agreement between Rosstat and Sberbank, the field census staff will be insured against accidents with the insurance amount of 50,000 roubles.
