In mid-March, SPbGASU students took part in the LIKI Session 2021 interuniversity talent competition. Our university was represented by four studios of the Centre for Student Leisure and Creativity "Kirpich", all of which were awarded by the contest jury.

✔The new dance performance of Made'IRA team (choreography and staging by Irina Deeva) won second place in the Contemporary Dance category.

✔ Second prize among vocal and instrumental bands was awarded to SPbGASU’s “Nerd”.

✔ The premiere performance of “No Drugs” by BACKSHOTcrew (choreography and staging by Maria Lyubetskaya) won third prize in the Street Dance category.

✔ The SPbGASU vocal group won first place in the Pop Vocal category with the song “Come Along”.

We asked the leaders of creative teams to tell us about their preparation for the competition.

– “BACKSHOTcrew began preparing for the contest long before its dates were announced. We started rehearsing our new dance in winter 2020, and decided to accomplish this work and premiere it at LIKI Session 2021. It took us a lot of time and effort to turn the idea into reality. We often lingered in the dance hall until late in the evening trying to hone the synchronization of movements, and changed the image concept and costume ideas many times – we did everything to create a perfect performance,” told Maria Lyubetskaya.

– “Preparation for the competition was difficult, as the pandemic made its own adjustments”, said Irina Deeva, Made'IRA choreographer and head of Kirpich Student Club. “Composition of almost all teams have changed. Someone has completed the studies in the university, others decided to finish their dancing or singing career. The teachers had to work hard. Initially, the competition organizers informed that the teams should perform with their old pieces. Later they changed the decision, and we had to be very fast in staging a new dance based on the biography of Marina Tsvetaeva. The dance by BACKSHOTcrew was premiered at the contest, it showed what happens to a person taking drugs. The vocal ensemble also presented a new song. And now our teams can be proud of their well-deserved victories!”

We warmly congratulate each team on their success and wish our students more achievements and reaching for greater heights in the future!
