SPbGASU Successfully Participates in CASE-IN International Engineering Championship

Students of Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering took part in the qualifying stage of the 9th CASE-IN International Engineering Championship, which is part of the presidential platform "Russia – Land of Opportunities".

Student teams presented their solutions within the Project Engineering category. The expert jury was composed of JSC NIPIGAZ representatives and SPbGASU teachers.

✔ The first-place winner and semi-finalist is the “Guys from Our Yard” team consisting of Artemy Taranov (team captain), Arina Miklyaeva, Anna Fedorova and Dmitry Blinov.

✔ 2nd prize and a qualification to the semifinal was awarded to PIKA team, which included Anna Belova (captain), Ksenia Fadina, Polina Zaitseva and Ilya Grigoriev.

✔ The K4AU team received bronze medals in the qualifying stage. The team members are Mikhail Muslivets (captain), Dmitry Ivkov, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Anastasia Konovalova.

The championship semi-final for the Northwestern Federal District will take place on April 14. On this day "Guys from Our Yard" and "PIKA" will meet with the teams of Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, the branch of Moscow Power Engineering Institute in Volzhsky, and Yaroslavl State Technical University.

The final of CASE-IN International Engineering Championship will traditionally be held in Moscow and will bring together the best student engineering teams from Russia and the CIS. The choice of the event offline or online format will be made depending on the epidemiological situation.

Winners of the final stage will be awarded valuable prizes and the opportunity to participate in national summer student forums. They will also have a possibility to get an internship in leading industrial companies.

CASE-IN International Engineering Championship is a system of case competitions held among schoolchildren, university students and young professionals within the fuel and energy and mineral resources sectors. The championship is held in accordance with the plan of events aimed at popularization of engineering professions and technical occupations approved by the Russian government in 2015.

The championship organizers are Nadezhnaya Smena Foundation, nonprofit partnership “Youth Forum of Mining Leaders” and AstraLogika LLC.

CASE-IN championship is supported by Russia’s government bodies: the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, and the Centre for Assistance to Young Professionals.

The “Russia – Land of Opportunities" autonomous non-profit organization was founded on the initiative of the President of Russia. Its key goals are creating conditions for increasing social mobility, ensuring citizens’ personal and professional self-fulfillment, and promoting effective social elevators in Russia. The organization’s Supervisory Board is chaired by Vladimir Putin.
