SPbGASU teachers spoke on Channel One

In the "Good Morning" program on Channel One, a TV report was released on the restoration of lost churches. This involved participation of Doctor of Architecture, Professor, Head of the SPbGASU Department of Architectural and Urban Planning Heritage Sergey Sementsov and Associate Professor of the SPbGASU Department of Architectural and Urban Planning Heritage Nadezhda Akulova. It was about the restoration of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow," (with pennies)" in St. Petersburg at 24 Obukhovskoy Oborony Avenue. Nadezhda Akulova acts as the chief architect, supervising the restoration of the interior decoration of the church.

✔ The church was destroyed in the 30s of the last century, and five years ago, its restoration began.

According to the church beneficiary, Priest Bogdan (Polevoi), the interior decoration should be elegant, in the traditional Russian style.

Restorers recreate the lost church from photographs. At the same time, the interior was captured only on one of them, but this turned out to be enough for specialists to recreate it.

In early February, SPbGASU hosted an exhibition of projects made by students of the Faculty of Architecture and dedicated to the revival of the lost churches of the Northern capital. The most interesting of them are collected in the book “The lost churches of St. Petersburg. Experience in architectural reconstruction." The author and compiler of the book, Sergey Sementsov, noted that there were more than 1,000 churches in St. Petersburg and its immediate suburbs. He expressed confidence that many of the temples presented in the book would be restored.
