SPbGASU team took 4th place at the International Go festival

The intellectual oriental game Go SPbGASU team took part in the international student festival "We are GOing to see KARELIA in our dreams!" The honor of the university was defended by Yuri Zgoda (team captain, postgraduate student of the Department of Information Technology) and students of the Automobile and Road Faculty Nikita Obraztsov and Kirill Bodrunov.

According to the results of the team competition, representatives of SPbGASU took 4th place among the teams of Russian universities. The team captain took 7th place in the individual competition, and Nikita and Kirill took 9th and 11th places, respectively.

The last festival became the first student sports event of this scale in Russia in the past few months. Despite the organizational difficulties associated with the epidemiological situation, it was carried out in accordance with all sanitary standards. At the end of the competition, an excursion to Kizhi island, famous for its monuments of wooden architecture, was organized for the participants.

“Since March this year, we have not taken part in any face-to-face competitions, and this festival has become a real holiday for our team. The opportunity to place real stones and hear their special knock on the board cannot be replaced with online games at the computer monitor,” noted Yuri Zgoda, adding that the team is very grateful for the support of Irina Nuryeva, head of the department for Social and Extracurricular Work with Students.

Yuri said warm words about the club's coach Alexander Kim; according to him, thanks to the rare variations studied under his leadership, which are often found only in the games of professional players, the team was able to demonstrate high results and show strong and interesting playing.

Now the SPbGASU Go club continues to hold meetings in a remote format and is waiting for everyone who wants to join this game.
