The event was organized by the St. Petersburg state-owned enterprise "External Transport Agency", Leontief Centre, St. Petersburg State Unitary Enterprise "Passazhiravtotrans" and Green Mobility International Partnership Initiative.
The SPbGASU team members were the Department of Transport Systems’ students Ekaterina Dikhtyarenko, Dmitry Mishakov, Polina Peter and Nikolay Gruk; Polina Novikova, a student of the Department of Architectural Environment and Landscape Design; the Urban Planning Department student Alesya Kirillova and this year’s graduate of the Department of Architectural Environment and Landscape Design Anastasia Lungu.
For a month, the students worked on ideas for improving the city bus station located at 36 Obvodny Canal Embankment in the context of sustainable development goals, consulting with the managers of the bus station and representatives of transport companies.
The SPbGASU team proposed changing the layout of the facility to make it more comfortable and safer for passengers. In doing so, the costs and payback period of the investment were calculated. The jury, which consisted of experienced professionals including heads of transport companies and organizations, noted the integrity and relevance of the proposed solutions and, most importantly, the possibility of their practical application.
One of the winners’ prizes was the team’s enrollment into the personnel reserve of St. Petersburg Committee for Transport with the possibility of having pre-graduation practice, writing final qualifying papers under the guidance of the External Transport Agency’s specialists as well as subsequent employment. Besides, the winners were given another opportunity to present their project to the professional community within the 19th national forum "Strategic Planning in the Regions and Cities of Russia" held in St. Petersburg on 25–26 October, and our team coped with the task brilliantly again. We congratulate the winners and wish them new professional achievements!
