SPbGASU was assigned the status of a federal innovation platform
The Ministry of Science and Higher Education approved the list of organizations classified as federal innovation platforms that make up the innovative infrastructure in the field of higher and additional professional education for 2022. St Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering passed the competitive selection with two innovative educational projects.
The first is “Modern educational technologies for ensuring labour safety in the construction industry”. The goal of the project is to create an innovative methodology that forms a safe behavioral model for students and workers at the construction sites of the industry using innovative teaching methods.
According to Vitaly Tsaplin, Head of the SPbGASU Department of Technosphere Safety, innovative teaching methods include traditional methods and modern computer technologies.
The development of this educational project was preceded by the international project SAFECON (“Safe, Skilled and Productive Construction Sites”), carried out at SPbGASU under Vitaly Tsaplin's supervision in 2018–2022. The training program based on VR technologies “Training construction workers on labour safety measures” created within the project formed the basis for working on an innovative methodology.
The implementation of the project "Modern educational technologies to ensure labour safety in the construction industry" and the introduction of its results into everyday practice will significantly improve the quality of labour protection education, which, in turn, will reduce the number of accidents, and will also increase labour productivity in construction .
Another project is "Innovative methodology for the formation of digital professional competencies of students and specialists in the construction industry." According to Inna Sukhanova, Dean of the SPbGASU Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services, great attention is paid to the formation of digital professional competencies among students at SPbGASU. “Building Information Modeling" (BIM) technologies have been introduced at the university since 2017. Since 2018, regular student BIM Championships have been held at SPbGASU, and in 2020, the international project "BIM-ICE – Integration of BIM into Higher and Professional Education" began to be implemented, which contributed to an even wider introduction of BIM technologies into the educational process and made it possible to share experience and methods formation of digital professional competencies of students with other educational organizations. The result of work in this direction is the training of qualified personnel for the construction industry, who have the necessary BIM competencies,” said the dean.
In addition, as Director of the SPbGASU Institute of Continuing Education and Professional Retraining Viktoria Vinogradova said, “SPbGASU innovative educational projects are aimed at the development and implementation of new teaching methods for both students and learners of additional professional education, which will ensure the continuity of training in these areas ".
For the period of project implementation (2022–2026), SPbGASU was given the status of a federal innovation platform.
