In April, 2017 a project of the Chair of Design of an Architectural Milieu of SPSUACE passed selection of an expert commission of the festival «Imperial gardens of Russia». The St.-Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering became an official participant of the festival. Employees of the Russian museum, profile committees, the Government of St.-Petersburg, experts in the field of landscape architecture were members of the expert commission.

«Imperial gardens of Russia» is the first festival of landscape gardening art in Russia which has been held since 2008. 100 000 people visited the festival in 2016 .This festival is among such known landscape events of the world, as a flower-show in Chelsea (Chelsea Flower Show), London; Flower exhibition in Hempton Court (Hampton Court Palace Flower Show), England; International «Festival of gardens» in Shomon-Sjur-Luar, France. This action is included in a calendar of events of the St.-Petersburg Culture Committee.

Each festival is devoted to some theme. The present festival which will be held from 9 till 18th June in Mihajlovsky garden is called "Avangardens". The avantguard and constructivism will be its theme.

«Our project is a development of "Black square” by Malevich. We have developed it in a three-dimensional image, in a cube», - said one of heads of a creative group SPSUACE, a senior lecturer of the chair of design of architectural milieu Alexander Vladimirovich Dyomin. «Also we have made it green», - added Svetlana Vladimirovna Botchkareva, the head of the chair of design of architectural milieu.

Participation of SPSUACE in such a big action takes on special significance on the threshold of the 185 anniversary of the University and in connection with opening a new direction of training «Landscape design».
