On 28–29 June, St Petersburg State Electrotechnical University “LETI” hosted the opening of the regional platform of the Student Media Center of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, as well as a series of training events within the framework of the “Content Production Workshop” project. There were students from nine St Petersburg universities, including SPbGASU.
Participants of the SPbGASU Student Media Center (from left to right): Ksenia Koroteeva (photographer), Alena Kuznetsova (deputy head of the photo unit), German Sergeev (head of the information support unit) and Natalia Teslina (curator of the media center, information policy division specialist)
In her speech “Successful cases of student media in St Petersburg”, Olga Sorokina, leading advisor of the Media Projects Department of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, introduced the audience to the work of the student media aggregator “NOS” (“Science, Education, Students”), which combines news on its platform from different universities, collects the best materials from student media and publishes its own content. In her presentation, Olga Sorokina noted the work of those student media centers whose publications, according to the aggregator, scored the largest number of views or likes among subscribers. In particular, the adviser marked the group of the SPbGASU Student Media Center “VKontakte” as an example and highly appreciated the design of the posts published by our students.
The main goal of the SPbGASU student media center is information support and coverage of socially significant events, the organizers and participants of which are students. The project is aimed at uniting and developing people talented in the field of mass communications, who, in turn, help students with the announcement and holding of events. More than 150 SPbGASU students are involved in the work of the media center - photographers, cameramen, copywriters, designers, etc. The guys have big plans for future projects: they are ready to develop, learn and help everyone to be in the center of bright events in the life of the university.
