Egor Mishurov, a first-year student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, became the winner in the category “Entry group of my city and border area” in the age category of 14–17 years. At the competition, he presented a project for an entry sign in the city of Chernyakhovsk, Kaliningrad region. The work, made according to the student’s sketches, was installed at four entrances to the city.

“The theme of the competition was perfect for my already completed project. Even before this competition, an intra-city competition was held in Chernyakhovsk. I just designed an entry sign for it. Based on the results of voting among city residents, my project became the winner. Then, the city administration moved on to implementing an entry sign based on my sketch. The project was approved, and the sign was indeed installed at all four entrances to the city,” said Egor.

Egor Mishurov shared on how he had developed his project. At the beginning of his work, he studied Chernyakhovsk to understand its features and find the main urban images. He made a semantic scheme that formed the basis for the future project. He took into account the uniqueness of the city - a combination of history, architecture and nature. He thought about the shape and selection of materials. The final work combined the recognizable contours of the Lutheran Church (lost), Insterburg Castle, the water tower and Bismarck Tower, the Orthodox Cathedral of the Archangel Michael and the iconic Humpback Bridge.

The competition was held in two stages. From November to December, a correspondence stage took place, during which project descriptions, work materials and presentations were reviewed. Those who passed it successfully were invited to Moscow for defense at the full-time stage. 156 candidates in 11 categories reached the finals. Participants defended their works from 21 to 23 January.

The “My Entry Group” competition was held as part of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality Industry” for the creation of design works in the field of architecture, design, construction and tourism.
