On 1 September, students, curators, and representatives of the deans' offices of the SPbGASU Faculties of Civil Engineering and Automobile and Road Building visited the "Transport of the Big City" festival, which took place on the site of the Historical Park "Russia - My History".
The festival was organized by the St Petersburg Transport Committee to increase the attractiveness of public transport and popularize it among residents and visitors of the city, including schoolchildren and young people.
This date has a special significance for the transport industry of the Northern capital, as regular bus service was opened in Leningrad on 1 September, 1925. The grand opening of the exhibition began with a speech by the First Deputy Chairman of the Transport Committee Aleksey Lvov.
The exhibition featured examples of historical buses and trolleybuses from the last century and models of innovative transport running on alternative energy sources: gas buses, electric buses and trolleybuses with increased autonomous running. New import-substituting machines will replenish the fleet of St Petersburg city transport.
The festival visitors saw a concert program.
