SPbGASU students in the field of study “Technosphere Safety” Danila Markov, Aleksey Sorokin and Elena Abashina, supervised by Associate Professor at the Department of Technosphere Safety Aleksandr Glukhanov, visited the Fire Robotics Engineering Center “EFER” (Petrozavodsk). A tour of the enterprise was conducted by Oleg Makarov, an engineer from the EFER Research Center. The company is a leading Russian manufacturer of fire fighting equipment and robotic fire extinguishing systems for the protection of industrial, public, transport and fuel and energy facilities.
The students were shown the entire technological chain for the production of fire fighting equipment and robotic fire extinguishing systems: engineering, production, assembly, configuration, testing and programming of automatic fire extinguishing systems.
“For me, the excursion was very interesting and informative, despite the fact that I had already seen the technology for making firefighting robots in various videos on the Internet. In life, all this looks more interesting and larger-scale. Such excursions consolidate and deepen the knowledge acquired at the university,” said Danila Markov.
“It was interesting to listen to the people who work in the fire robotics engineering center: they shared their experience and knowledge. The enterprise is unique, since it is the only production of firefighting robots in Russia. Thanks to the university for the opportunity to attend,” noted Elena Abashina.
“Excursions to enterprises allow students to improve professional competencies, realize their creative potential and improve the quality of professional education. For teachers of the department, a visit to the production of robotic fire fighting equipment opens up new areas of scientific and technical research within the innovative educational project “Modern educational technologies to ensure occupational safety in the construction industry.” The main purpose of our visit was to create a training module “Robotic fire extinguishing installations” at the “Smart Labor” training site to conduct scientific research and familiarize delegations and students with innovative methods of fighting fires,” noted Aleksandr Glukhanov.
