Evgeny Tyulpa, Andrey Sviridov and Fedor Doronin, members of the musical band “Breakfast of Champions” of the SPbGASU Student Creativity Club “Kirpich”, took first place at the “Perform” festival in Cheboksary with their song “N1OCHEM”. In addition, the guys received the right to participate in the XXXII All-Russian festival “Russian Student Spring” in 2024.

The All-Russian youth festival of art songs "Perform" is an educational project that supports young singers-songwriters. This year it was participated by 50 students.

“The song “N1OCHEM”, which we performed with, is a work about love, and about misunderstanding, and about detachment. Everyone interprets it in his own way, but it is the musical and vocal presentation that creates the mood,” said Evgeny, Andrey and Fedor. The song with which they won the festival is their third joint work.

The "Breakfast of Champions" band performs in the style of surf punk, which is mixed with electronic music. The guys noted that despite the similarity in musical tastes and good teamwork, everyone has his own opinion regarding the presentation of the songs. “It causes some difficulties, but at the same time allows for better results,” they say.

Ilya Novak, teacher of the Kirpich SCC, who supports university bands, noted: “The guys rehearsed on their own, this is how it has happened historically. It is harmful to interfere with the process, because they are already an independent organism that develops in its own rhythm and direction - the main thing is to notice it in time and not interfere. And only occasionally comment on the work.”

“When we perform our music, we feel satisfaction, ecstasy, gratitude towards our parents who gave us the opportunity to play music. If we talk about what is more interesting to perform: your own music or covers, then we believe that it is better to share your own songs. After all, we can do whatever we want with our music.

When we heard the name of our group among the winners, we felt proud both for ourselves and for our home university. We plan to continue to be creative and expand our audience. Now we are preparing to perform at the “Lamp Evening” at SPbGASU,” participants of the “Breakfast of Champions” band shared their impressions of the competition.
