On 11 October, the St Petersburg Museum of Bridges hosted the awarding of the winners of the city competition of final qualifying works, dedicated to the Road Economy Workers' Day. The initiator and organizer of the competition was the Committee for the Development of Transport Infrastructure of St Petersburg.

The first three places in the competition were taken by graduates of the SPbGASU Department of Roads, Bridges and Tunnels. The best was Vitaly Ananyev with his final qualifying work on the topic “Design of a high-speed bridge crossing over the canal named after Moscow" (supervised by Associate Professor at the Department of Roads, Bridges and Tunnels Evgeny Kornylyev). The second place went to Igor Yaryshkin, whose thesis topic was “Methods for reducing rutting on roads” (supervised by Associate Professor at the Department of RBT Aleksandr Simanovsky). The third was Aleksandra Chistyakova, the topic of her thesis was “Erection of light embankments on a weak foundation” (supervised by Aleksandr Simanovsky).
