The lecture is on schedule, but the teacher is an SPbGASU graduate, executive director of the Formula City company Dmitry Ilchenko. For third-year students of the SPbGASU Faculty of Economics and Management, one of the lectures turned out to be unusual: instead of theory, they studied only real strategies for the effective development of construction companies and successful examples of brand promotion.

The focus is on benchmarking, that is, a set of techniques that allow you to study the experience of competitors and implement their best practices in your company.

– Previously, St Petersburg developers actively adopted the best practices of international and largest capital companies. Today we are also interested in the experience of regional companies that, in a competitive environment, in order to increase sales, improve the quality of construction, actively introduce effective developments and enter the markets of St Petersburg and Moscow. Therefore, developers always have ideas that can be adopted from each other and create their own high-quality product that meets the needs of your audience of buyers. The task of specialists is to evaluate the benefits of such experience for their company,” explained Dmitry Ilchenko.

The lecture examined in detail the features of the strategy of niche market players who have a limited audience of customers. They also discussed how to increase sales and increase the share of repeat purchases, including by improving the area adjacent to construction. Students learned about the demand for the product specialist profession, which has appeared on the real estate market quite recently. The task of such a specialist is to study the audience of consumers, their values and needs. The product specialist is responsible for the timely engineering of a development project from start to completion in all directions.

  • Students believe that up-to-date information from a specialist with experience in international and domestic business is interesting and useful for them, as it gives an idea of the modern requirements in the industry and the professional competencies that are necessary to have today.

Dmitry Ilchenko admitted that he was happy to share practical knowledge with students, especially that he used to teach at his native university for several years.

– When I was a student, I wanted to communicate more with business representatives in order to learn more about the construction market, follow current trends, and form and expand my professional horizons. Studying the practices of existing companies and analyzing their specific actions increase professional competencies,” explained Dmitry Ilchenko.
