“The competition went well for us”
The architectural training received by SPbGASU graduates is recognized as one of the best by the architectural educational community. This was once again proved at the 18th International Show Contest of final qualification works in architecture, design and art, which was held from October 6 to 13, 2019, on the basis of Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Over 700 FQWs of graduates from 75 universities from Russia and abroad, including the Milan Polytechnic University took part on the contest.
About 60 works of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs from degree-awarding departments of the SPbGASU Faculty of Architecture: departments of architectural design, architectural and urban heritage, architectural environmental design and urban planning, took part in the show contest.
For us, the contest was a success. SPbGASU is considered one of the favorites of this competition, because our architectural school is first-class and well-established. This is recognized by the entire architectural educational community of Russia. The works of our faculty graduates were performed at a high level. They are elegant and demonstrate the full range of competencies that an architect should possess. In addition to the competition, a professional discussion was held on the issues of architectural education. Our approach to design, as a method, was recognized as one of the most productive.
According to F.V. Perov, at the 18th Show Contest, an international expert examination of final qualifying works was also performed.
Two diplomas of Milan Polytechnic University received the works of SPbGASU graduates.
Altogether, FQWs of the graduates of the Architectural Faculty of our university received 39 1st- degree diplomas of the contest and the RAACS, the Union of Moscow Architects, the Department of State Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Union of Designers, Moscow Architectural Institute, Union of Architects and NNGASU.
The best works include: “Analysis of the visual and emotional perception of the historical environment of St. Petersburg” (author - Margarita Redina); “Formation of a concept for the development of depressed areas of the city of Baku” (author - Nigar Mirzoeva); “Transformation of the Arsenal Plant (author - Julia Lagutkina).
“SPbGASU once again showed adequately high level of training of future architects and designers,” said Yulia S. Yankovskaya, Head of the SPbGASU Department of Urban Planning.
In the near future, the university plans to organize an exhibition of the FQWs of SPbGASU graduates, the winners of the 18th International Show Contest of graduate qualification works in architecture, design and art.
