According to the chairman of the CYS, Associate Professor of the SPbGASU Department of LTTV Nikolai V. Podoprigora, Ph.D., the activities of the Council of Young Scientists are structured in four areas.

First, this is work with young scientists, which includes the organization and holding of round tables, master classes, presentations and other events aimed at involving young people in the scientific activity, developing their professional and personal skills. The second sphere is public relations: coverage of events in the media, communication with the SPbGASU public relations department and international relations department, as well as with other universities and public organizations, city and regional administrations, writing articles, activities in social networks. Another important area of the Council’s actions embraces grants, conferences, publications; search for magazines for publications, conferences, grants, informing young scientists on paperwork for participation. The Student Scientific Society acts as a separate structure, which involves active students in the work of the Council, provides information support for its activities at the faculties. To effectively structure the work, each sphere has its own curator. Curators are also available at each faculty.

In the near future, the CYS will hold events for those who are taking their first steps on their scientific paths. Young scientists can be sure that they will not be left without attention and support of their colleagues. Interesting meetings, useful workshops, and many other events await them.

We intend to expand our membership, actively participate in university events, in career guidance activities, work as experts in assessing the quality of students’ work, including graduate qualifications, and conduct educational work at the faculties, so that new participants could join us. We want to be useful and do something that would help to advance science at the university.

— Nikolai V. Podoprigora,
Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists
