The golden faculty of this year is the faculty of architecture!
The university hosted the student event of the year - a large-scale inter-faculty creative competition "Golden Faculty". The event is dedicated to the birthday of the SPbGASU Student Council: this year it turned twelve. Each year, the event is dedicated to a certain topic, which the faculty activists together with their chairmen, “play around”. Teams can do this in many ways: through dancing, costumes, songs, etc.

The theme for this year was “Directors and their films”. Each faculty would previously choose a director and set the task of revealing director’s activities to the participants of the event.
What the faculties showed
On the main stage of the university, faculties fought for the title of the best.
The Faculty of Architecture chose for their performance Leonid Gaidai, a Soviet and Russian film director, one of the most famous films of whom is The Brilliant Arm. The Faculty of Civil Engineering devoted its work to the American film director William (Bill) Condon, author of such films as Beauty and the Beast, The Twilight. Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, The Twilight. Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2." Guy Ritchie represented the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Urban Economics, James Cameron - the Faculty of Automotive and Road, and Martin Scorsese - the Faculty of Forensics and Law in Construction and Transport. The Faculty of Economics and Management dedicated its presentation to American director Francis Coppola.

“This is the first victory of our faculty through all the years of the competition. We chose the famous director Leonid Gaidai; he stood out from the rest of the foreign directors chosen by other faculties. I think we won because we did not strive for victory. We’ve been preparing for a long time, but with no particular troubles; we rehearsed until late. “The Golden Faculty” award filled the guys with emotions, presented new acquaintances, united them into a team,” said Maxim Zalessky.
“All faculties gave fine accounts of them. I think that the faculty of architecture was the best because the guys chose a national director and showed Gaidai in a straightforward Russian way. Congratulations to the faculty of architecture with the victory!” said Yegor Ilyin, Chairman of the SPbGASU Student Council.
“Every year, students' performances are getting better and more appealing. I really liked the costumes. The intrigue remained till the very end; even the jury members could not understand who would get the title of the gold faculty. It was very difficult to single out a leader. I wish the guys that the creative wave that they demonstrated at the “Golden Faculty” competition would gain its strength every year,” said Irina V. Nuryeva, head of the SPbGASU Office for Social Welfare and Extracurricular Activities.

During the event, students could take pictures with “cardboard directors” on the background of a banner with the logo of the “Golden Faculty”.
✔ The first such event was organized five years ago, so the “Golden Faculty” can rightly be considered a traditional festivity of the university.
