The problems of transport infrastructure were discussed at SPbGASU

The 2nd All-Russian scientific and practical conference named “Innovations and the Durability of Transport Infrastructure Facilities” was devoted to the application of new materials and innovative structural and technological solutions in the field of transport infrastructure. It took place on November 14, 2019 at SPbGASU.

At the conference, new innovative materials, changes in the regulatory framework and structural and technological solutions were discussed.

Speaking about the topic of the conference, Associate Professor, Head of the SPbGASU Department of Motor Roads, Bridges, and Tunnels M.P. Klekovkina noted that the topic is particularly relevant now, at the time of constantly developing technologies, new road-building materials, and new design capabilities, consideration of upcoming or already published new regulatory documents is essentially relevant.

– This way, at the conference, a number of reports were devoted to these topics; in particular, the issues of using new asphalt concrete, reinforcing asphalt concrete layers with steel grids, improving the norms and methods of designing roads, numerically modeling the work of the road base with geosynthetic materials on soft soils. The great importance of exchanging practical experience in conducting surveys and construction work in difficult conditions at unique objects of transport infrastructure should be noted,” said M.P. Klekovkina.

Deputy Director of the St. Petersburg State Public Institution “Center for Integrated Improvement” V. P. Olekhnovich highlighted the technical condition of the roads in St. Petersburg.

– V.P. Olekhnovich said that monitoring the maintenance of roads is the main function of the Center for Integrated Improvement.

By his words, one of the serious problems of St. Petersburg is the deterioration of utilities, which leads to the denuding of already repaired roads and their repeated restoration after works on the utilities. About 6 thousand official excavation works occur in St. Petersburg each year, while the number of unofficial excavations exceeds this figure by one and a half time.

Several presentations were made at the conference:

  • "The use of new asphalt concrete in the design of non-rigid road pavement" (associate professor E.D. Bondareva, Ph.D., associate professor MP P. Klekovkina, , Ph.D, SPbGASU)
  • "Improving the norms and methods of designing highways and their intersections" (associate professor of the Department of Surveys and Road Design A.V. Kostsov, Ph.D., MADI STU)
  • "Justification of the strength of pavement in the framework of existing methods" (associate professor, head of the department of Roads and Airfields S.P. Sannikov, Ph.D., Tyumen Industrial University)
  • “Modernization of the bridge crossing of the hydroelectric power station. Problems of inspection and design ”(senior lecturer at the Department of Roads, Bridges and Tunnels D. A. Yaroshutin, SPbGASU)
  • other reports by scientists and practitioners.

“Currently, in order to be a sought-after specialist in the road and bridge field, it is necessary to quickly and clearly monitor innovations and respond to them, in order to avoid operating in an obsolete information field. We are glad that interest in the conference is growing from year to year and attracts new participants from different regions of the country and other countries. One of the main goals of our conference is the exchange of practical and scientific experience, which allows us to expand research opportunities and develop partnerships,” summarized after the conference M.P. Klekovkina.
