The results of the annual exhibition of student photographs
The results of the 2019CADR exhibition competition, annually organized by the SPbGASU photo studio, were summed up. 420 works participated in the competition. The jury consisted of photographers of the DifferentVisionGroup, a club of photography enthusiasts, Andrey Kuznetsov, Nikita Treshchalov and Natalya Loginova, as well as the head of the SPbGASU Photo Studio Vadim Fedorov.

The winners of the nominations are:
- “Portrait”: Dinara Suyargulova (second-year student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering)
- “City Etude”, “Animals”: Mikhail Rumyantsev (first-year Master’s degree program student at the Faculty of Civil Engineering)
- “Landscape”: Maria Voronina (second-year student of the Faculty of Architecture)
- "Still Life": Daria Kulikova (second-year student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering)
- “Genre”, “Children”, “I love you, Peter’s creation!”, “Series”: Daria Fedorova (fourth-year student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering)
- “Sports”: Alexander Arefyev (second-year student of the Faculty of Automobile and Road Building)
The students told why they decided to take part in the competition, what photographing meant for them, and what feelings they experienced when they became aware of their victory.
Dinara Suyargulova:
– I wanted to get an objective assessment of my work, of which I have just a few. But there are those that I think are good. Photographing is my hobby, freedom, self-expression, the ability to capture the moment. I photograph only for myself; I would not want to turn this into a job, an obligation. I prefer to develop intuitively in photography.
Maria Voronina:
– I decided to take part in the competition by accident, after seeing a post about it. I uploaded my photos to share them with others. I enjoy scrutinizing beautiful photos. Photographing for me is the ability to see the beautiful in seemingly ordinary things and to preserve and convey this beauty to others. When I found out about the victory, I was surprised; at first I didn’t understand what was it about. And then, of course, I was delighted!
Daria Kulikova:
– Photography for me is an opportunity to show and capture the world through the prism of my vision, to keep forever a moment of time and emotions in mind, because, most likely, it is would not be possible to bring it back. I did not expect to win, so I was pleasantly surprised.
Daria Fedorova:
This is my third time participating in the exhibition. For me, this is, above all, the opportunity to analyze my own work. Over time, I began to understand that photography is not just an image; it’s not only about the moment, light and composition, but also about me, about my feelings and outlook on life. In addition, participation in the competition is a good way to materialize the work, because the most successful picture without high-quality printing and proper weighting at the exhibition loses some of its magic.
The organizers noted that every year the number of participants was growing, which means that the competition is interesting for students. New ideas and thoughts appear which, captured in the photographs, can be seen at the next exhibition 2020CADR.
