At the beginning of September, 2016 the results of the competition on creation of a project of a monument to the victims in the air crash over Sinai were summed up. The best project was «Memory Garden» which was created by students of St.-Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering Ivan Prjazhennikov and Tatyana Volf. The head of the group - the senior teacher of Chair of Architectural Design, the senior lecturer, a member of the Union of designers Svetlana Borisovna Danilova.
The project represents the composition integrated into a natural landscape. On either side of a path lying through a park, there will be established triangular granite plates with names of all 224 victims of the air crash. The construction of metal pipes sounding in the wind becomes the memorial centre. The general impression will be strengthened by art illumination at night-time, lawns with bright red colors and other elements.
28 projects by skilled professionals, beginning architects and sculptors, and also students of architectural high schools from different corners of Russia were represented for the competition. At summarizing there were considered not only opinions of expert juries, but also opinions left in the visitors' book, and results of the online voting held on the site of the Government of Leningrad region.
The Vice-governor, the vice-president of the Government of Leningrad region Michael Ivanovich Moskvin gave the reason for the choice: «Relatives would like the monument not to remind the plane or the geographical features of a place where there was the air crash. So we chose the variant which does not bear in itself a tragic element and gives chance of a life, of something light».
«Memory garden» will be located in Vsevolozhsk. The jury especially noted a respect of authors of the project from SPSUACE for the memorial complex located nearby «Life Road».
We congratulate the authors of the project and we wish them the further professional successes!
