The second Go championship took place at SPbGASU
On June 7, 2020, the 2nd SPbGASU Go Championship took place. Due to the current epidemiological situation, the tournament was held remotely. The main judge of the competition was the coach of SPbGASU Go team Alexander Kim.

In the course of the four forceful rounds, the strongest players at SPbGASU were determined; they will represent the university at the city, national and international competitions. These are Kirill Bodrunov (first-year graduate, Faculty of Automobile and Road-Building), Grigory Vornikov (second-grade student, Faculty of Architecture), Yuri Zgoda (second-year graduate, Faculty of Civil Engineering), and Nikita Obraztsov (first-year graduate, Faculty of Automobile and Road-Building).
The prize places were as follows:
- 1st place: Yuri Zgoda
- 2nd place: Kirill Bodrunov and Nikita Obraztsov
- 3rd place: Grigory Vornikov.
Kirill Bodrunov and Nikita Obraztsov won equal numbers of games. Moreover, they had the same auxiliary factors provided for by the regulations on the championship. Due to that, they both became silver medalists of the 2nd SPbGASU Championship.
Students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, i.e., third-year student Beslan Berzekov and second-year student Artak Hakobyan debuted at this tournament. Even though these were their first competitions, they demonstrated interesting play in each of the games.
The Go Club continues to conduct classes, and players are training for the main student competition of the year. On May 1 and 2, our team competed with other players in the framework of the All-Russian team student online competitions in Go and became one of top six strongest teams in Russia.
On August 22-30, 2020, the traditional annual International Student Festival "We are GOing to see KARELIA in our dreams!" will be held in Petrozavodsk. Within the framework of the festival, the student’s European championship, the team championship of Russia, the Russian championship in Go and the all-Russian competitions in Go “Cup of Karelia” are scheduled.
