On March 13, 2015 in Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering there took place the ceremony of awarding winners of the 8th Russian competition “Macaroni builder-2015”.
During the last two days on the balustrades of the main building of Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering students erected their macaroni towers and bridges. The built structures were estimated by S.G. Golovina, dean of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services E.A. Shesterov, dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering A.N. Panin and other members if the judging board. In estimate of the erected objects the judges took into account the complexity of an engineering concept, simplicity of its solution, functionality of the structure, its aesthetic character and economical efficiency, height of towers and span of bridges. Principal task for each competition’s object was to stand till next day so that the judges could view and estimate it in the original form.
During the ceremony of awards vice-rector for external relations and youth politics I.Yu. Lapina said that it was really a pleasure to watch students work and not only realize their fantasies but also apply the knowledge, they had already acquired during studies in the university.
“It’s a pity that some structure didn’t live the night but I hope students will make some corrective actions and next year their structure will better and more durable”, - said head of the architectural and building structures S.G. Golovina.
This year new teams participated in addition to our constant participants – Saint Petersburg state university of architecture and civil engineering and Vologda state university; new teams came from Saint Petersburg state institute of film and television, Nizhny Novgorod state university of architecture and civil engineering and Belorussian national technical university (Minsk) and a team of schoolchildren from secondary education school № 109 of Primorsky district of Saint Petersburg.
