To give graduates a good start in life

The interaction of universities with enterprises, demand for graduates, and the level of their practical training were the topic of the discussion in the TV Channel One show “The Right to Fairness” (release of December 3, 2019). How easy it is for a graduate to find a job in the profession? Mikhail M. Kotyukov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation answered the tough questions of the TV presenter and guests in studio.

“The issue of training specialists who have the most up-to-date skills and can work on the state-of-the-art equipment is extremely important. Universities need to resolve those matters together with employers. It is not always possible to provide the most advanced equipment to a university. Quite often, such equipment is unique. But it is important not just to wait until a fresher comes from the university to “put hand to the plough” and start working. It is important that enterprises participate in the development and implementation of educational programs and in what is called “acceptance procedure”, as part of state certification commissions. Nowadays we are developing this at the practical level,” said M. M. Kotyukov.

“One of the oldest technical universities in the country, SPbGASU meets the challenges of the present day. We intend to keep making every effort to ensure that the construction industry is replenished with new professionals who have all essential competencies,” believes the rector of SPbGASU E.I. Rybnov.

Modern production needs qualified and talented engineers. St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering trains such specialists closely working with employers. Specialized departments affiliated with enterprises operate at the university; the students undergo practical training at the largest construction companies of the city.
