It would seem that transport logistics and traffic safety are man's specialties. But a post-graduate student of the department of overland transport-technological cars Svetlana Andrejchikova proves that the female sight at transport problems is claimed, too.
The theme of her master's thesis was connected with traffic safety in the conditions of limited visibility. The researcher in her experience knows, how uncomfortable to drive the car on a dark road. Every day she goes to work by car from Gatchina. And the post-graduate student has worked in SPSUACE, in the Training centre of Faculty of Automobile and Road Building. Why did she made decision to take postgraduate study?
- I graduated from SPSUACE in 2009. My master degree dissertation was devoted to transport logistics, to be exact - ecologistics. I made a route for a lorry. There was a problem: to deliver cargoes through St.-Petersburg with a minimum negative influences to environment. I took a point of start and a point of finish and calculated what route will be optimum. Where there won’t be traffic jams , how to achieve the minimum harmful emissions in the city atmosphere? I searched the safest routes for ecology. Transport transit should be also safe.
After magistracy I decided to continue studying transport problems, and took postgraduate study. I studied at the faculty of automobile and road building, and finished training on the Department of Transport Systems, and postgraduate study on the department of overland transport-technological cars. My supervisor of studies – the head of the Department of Overland Transport-technological Cars, D.Sc. in engineering, professor Sergey A. Evtjukov considers that it is necessary to continue the scientific working out connected with traffic safety in the conditions of limited visibility. Svetlana assumes that this theme is actual for St.-Petersburg, because there is often bad weather, fog, snowfall.
In her work Svetlana uses foreign experience. In different countries there are interesting operating workings out connected with traffic safety. For example, pedestrian crossings which are highlighted. or the systems of the adaptive cruise-control helping a driver to operate the car in the conditions of limited visibility.
The researcher plans to communicate with experts in the field of electronics and construction of roads. Her problem - to study everything that has been made in this sphere and to offer something new. Svetlana should prepare actual recommendations which can be used at designing and building new roads.
Every company-manufacturer of cars has already let out a model which the robot operates. But Svetlana thinks that such cars won’t appear on our roads soon.
The researcher says that her recommendations should be real for the Russian conditions. It is no secret that a lot of roads in our country are in bad condition, and some cars are morally obsolete. Perhaps, the post-graduate student will offer some changes in specifications, specifying factors which will affect traffic safety in bad weather conditions. Svetlana has a lot of thoughts and ideas, but meanwhile she is planning to study operating works on this problems.
A candidate minimum on philosophy and foreign language the post-graduate student has already passed, studying these subjects were very useful . Articles, concerning themes of her future dissertation, the researcher studies in a foreign language.
Svetlana Andrejchikova has worked in the Training centre of the faculty of automobile and road building which has programs on judicial technical examination. In any transport agency there are people who are responsible for technical condition of cars. They are responsible for lives of passengers and pedestrians, sign travelling sheets, are responsible for traffic safety of transport. These experts also study in the Training centre, there are also retraining drivers, mechanics, dispatchers of transport agencies, instructors and methodologists of driving schools . Svetlana accepted demands for training on the phone or by e-mail, concluded contracts, exposed accounts, is engaged in the organizational work.
After the master's thesis defense Svetlana is planning to work as a teacher on the department of overland transport-technological cars.
