Transport Planning and Modeling Conference at SPbGASU
On April 11, 2019, International Scientific Conference on Transport Planning and Modeling started at SPbGASU. It is organized by SPbGASU Department of Transport Systems with support of Ministry of Transport of Russian Federation and Transport Committee of the Government of Saint Petersburg. The conference is aimed to discuss improvement of road safety and ecology, traffic jams reduction and qualified personnel training. Experts from the UK, Germany and Belarus exchange experience with their Russian colleagues.
Government officers, experts, scientists and university lecturers take part in the event.
Irina Lugovskaya, First Vice Rector, greeted the conference participants on behalf of SPbGASU Rector Evgeny Rybnov: ‘Timeliness of the topic is obvious. Transport system work defines quality of people’s lives and economic development of the country they live in. Lots of attention is paid to transport in Russia and all over the world. Russian Federation Transport Strategy is approved till 2030; Safe and High Quality Motor Roads national project is realized; Federal law ‘About road traffic organization in Russia and selected Russian legal acts alteration’ has come into effect; several documents by Ministry of Transport of Russian Federation have been also approved. All these initiatives require mathematical transport modeling for project development. Such events as this conference are aimed to gather the finest minds involved in the topic’.
Vladimir Lugovenko, Deputy Head of the Department of state policy on motor and urban passenger transport (Ministry of Transport of Russian Federation): ‘We do not stand still but adjust to such innovations as drone technologies and automated vehicles’.
Sergey Anisimov, Deputy Head of ‘Dorogi Rossii’ Federal State-Funded Institution (Federal Road Agency) told about transport modeling as part of national project: ‘Effective transport system is a basic element of convenient urban environment and formation of urban agglomeration’.
