From 15 to 17 May, SPbGASU held the general elections for the chairman of the Student Council for the first time. Four candidates took part in them: Leonid Nikolaev, who at that time held the post of chairman (Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Municipal Services), Kirill Eliseev (Faculty of Forensics and Law in Construction and Transport), Aleksandr Aksenov (also FFLCT) and Ksenia Vitsina ( Faculty of Civil Engineering).

The candidates presented their programs for the development of student self-government, took part in debates, where they defended their beliefs and values, proposed methods and forms of work that, in their opinion, would help make student life at SPbGASU better and more interesting.

The proactive stance of the candidates made it possible to collect a record number of votes - 3,274 students took part in the elections, which amounted to 40% of the full-time student population. The largest number of votes (1191) was received by Ksenia Vitsina, who became the new head of the Student Council.

“By now, I have gained extensive experience in implementing student projects, organizing various events and, most importantly for me, the skills of working with large teams, mentoring experience. I want to bring a lot of new things into the lives of SPbGASU students and into the life of the Student Council, to ensure that every our student is interested in the university, so that everyone is heard and can ask for help,” said Ksenia.

The meeting of the activists, at which the results of the election of the chairman of the SPbGASU Student Council were announced, was attended by Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Irina Lugovskaia, Head of the Youth Policy Division Irina Nuryeva, Director of the Sports Club Oksana Safonova.

“I congratulate everyone on the elections, which demonstrated concern for student life, for what is happening at the university. Thanks to the previous chairman of the Student Council, Leonid Nikolaev, and his team for their active work, for the courage shown in organizing elections in a new format. I am sure that the new team led by Ksenia Vitsina will be able to preserve traditions, solve new problems, and involve more students in socially useful, proactive activities. I wish the chairman and the entire Student Council success in achieving goals and solving problems. Interact with the heads of academic groups, with curators, consult more often with deans, their deputies, and, of course, with students. Together we can do everything!” – Irina Lugovskaia gave parting words to the new head of student government.
