The action "Beslan. We remember" took place at SPbGASU. The event was organized by the Faculty of Civil Engineering with the participation of the Department of History and Philosophy.
Students listened to a lecture about the terrible events that took place 20 years ago in the Beslan school and observed a minute of silence in memory of the victims. The lecture was given by Evgeny Guryev, associate professor at the Department of History and Philosophy.
The lecturer told how on 1 September, 2004, terrorists attacked school No. 1 in the city of Beslan. The hostages were locked in the gym and held in inhumane conditions for the next two days. 334 people died, including 186 children. More than 900 people were injured.
Evgeny Guryev emphasized: terrorism has no nationality. The goals of terrorists are criminal, no matter what slogans they hide behind. It is necessary to maintain the unity of our multinational country, to overcome any disagreements. The teacher also gave recommendations on how to act in an extreme situation.
“The event is aimed at cultivating a sense of patriotism in students, instilling in them moral and ethical qualities, a sense of compassion, and respect for the values of peaceful life,” said Anna Tsarenko, Deputy Dean for Discipline, Senior Lecturer at the SPbGASU Department of Construction Management.
