On 24 December, the Department of Intercultural Communication held a festive concert in the SPbGASU assembly hall, organized by foreign students of the preparatory department.
The New Year's performance turned out to be lively and vivid. Foreign students congratulated the audience on the upcoming holiday, performed a short play, sang, danced and even held a regional quiz. The concert program consisted of various numbers in which the students of the preparatory department demonstrated their knowledge of the Russian language and tell about interesting facts from the life of their countries.
The musical performances made a great impression: energetic salsa (Rodriguez Serrano Paula Andrea, Colombia), graceful Chinese dance (Zhang Jitao, China) and a traditional song in Bengali (Mim Ramia Fazia, Bangladesh).
Students from China performed a funny skit about how they chose a new Father Frost. Guys from Africa sang a funny song about St Petersburg. And students from the preparatory department from Palestine (El Far Wasim), Turkey (Tat Gizem), Zimbabwe (Kaya Tendai Promiz), Bangladesh (Mim Ramia Fazia), Colombia (Rodriguez Serrano Paula) and Syria (Atiya Amer) told about the traditions of celebrating the New Year in their home countries in the form of an interactive game. Foreign students even joked on stage, although they have only been studying Russian for three months.
This year, the role of Father Frost was played by Kaya Tendai Promiz (Zimbabwe), and the role of Snow Maiden was played by Tat Gizem (Turkey). The students did a great job. “I had the honor of playing Father Frost. It warmed my heart to see the smiles and joy of all the guests and to feel their good mood from this event. I am glad that I was part of the concert and I look forward to other gatherings,” said the performer of the role of the New Year’s wizard.
The final chord of the concert was a fiery New Year's song, which was performed by all the students of the preparatory department. The energetic melody and cheerful words were so liked by everyone that the students sang an encore.
After the concert, the guests of the New Year's performance shared their impressions, took photos and talked with the main participants of the festive. All the spectators said that it was fun, professional, educational and talented.
