In December 2018, SPbGASU students from the Department of Technology of Construction Materials and Metrology got a unique opportunity to visit the Slantsev cement plant CESLA, located at Slantsy, a city in the Leningrad Oblast. Since 2001, CESLA with the yearly capacity of nearly 800 thousand tons of cement belongs to the HeidelbergCement Company in Russia. In the recent years, several modernization projects were launched at the plant. The students got a perfect opportunity to get a first-hand experience of new production technologies in action and see the state-of-the-art equipment in operation.

The students were shown the full chain of cement production process: from the quarry to the final product. The organizers of the tour drew special attention for the multi-level tight quality control at each stage of cement production. The plant laboratory, perfectly equipped with modern outfits produced a very strong impression on the visitors.

The CESLA plant is one major enterprises n the region and one of the major suppliers for the construction industry of St. Petersburg. The Department of Technology of Construction Materials and Metrology is extremely grateful to the plant for the exceptionally educational and interesting excursion.
