At the end of June, SPbGASU held the first defense of final qualifying works prepared as part of the “Startup as a Diploma” program. The difference between a research project in a startup format and a traditional form is that the result of the work must be in demand on the market - this is confirmed by an assessment of potential consumers of the solution. Such a project is characterized by high practice orientation and well-developed financial aspects.
Students successfully defended their final qualifying theses in the new format.
11 graduates presented 6 projects: “Development of the concept and financial and economic feasibility study of the multi-industry interactive training site “Smart Labor””, “Technological and information support for digital twins of highways in the implementation of the strategic transformation of the transport industry”, “Tourist complex in the Republic of Dagestan”, “ Development of a software ecosystem for teaching children programming”, “International platform for the exchange of skills and resources between various companies in the construction industry” and “Wastewater heat recovery in multi-apartment residential buildings”. Each work included a business plan, a calculated economic model, and a marketing strategy. All theses were considered viable, and the students received an “excellent” mark for their defense.
“Thanks to the “Startup as a Diploma” project, I was able to implement my idea that had been around for a long time. And thanks to the support of the university and the knowledge that I gained, the competencies that I developed, and the skills that I acquired while working on my diploma, I was able to develop my own software ecosystem for teaching children programming,” said graduate Lev Fedorichev.
