“We all were united”

January 27th is a special date. In 1944, on this day, the city on the Neva was completely liberated from the enemy blockade. The terrible 900 days of deprivation, cold and hunger were over. The city survived, no matter what.

The memory of the act of bravery of the defenders of Leningrad is alive in the hearts of new generations. On the anniversary of the siege lifting, students and employees of SPbGASU took part in the mourning and solemn ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers to the Motherland Monument at the Piskarevskoe Memorial Cemetery.{gallery name="Пискаревское кладбище 2020"}

We asked a fourth-year student of the SPbGASU Faculty of Civil Engineering Maria Muratdurdyeva (Turkmenistan) to share her impressions:

- Together with me, SPbGASU students from Kazakhstan, Moldova and India went to the solemn mourning ceremony. It was very cold and windy. But we would not care, because we were imbued with the importance of what was happening. I believe that one needs to know and remember history. Representatives of my country also fought, defended Leningrad and other cities. We were part of the USSR and were united against the common enemy.
