Young researchers discussed current issues of construction management

On 18–19 November, Saint Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering hosted the scientific and practical conference “Innovative Methods of Organising Construction”. It was attended by young scientists from Russian universities – Doctors of Engineering and doctoral candidates up to 45 years old, PhD holders and postgraduate students up to 35 years old. The conference provided them with an opportunity for exchanging research achievements and practical experience.

Sergey Bovteev, Ulyana Mazurina, Maksim Gorshkov, Valery Nikonov, Darya Vykhryshchuk

Sergey Bovteev, associate professor at the Department of Construction Management of SPbGASU, and Lyudmila Oparina, head of the Department of Production Management and Municipal Services at Ivanovo State Polytechnic University, told about the visualisation of building processes, application of 4D modelling in construction companies and the requirements of regulatory documents in the field of construction visualisation.

The topic of improving organizational and technological solutions in the construction of nuclear power plants was addressed by representatives of "Siltumelectroproekts" company – engineer Ulyana Mazurina and deputy head of the special construction works department Evgeniya Kucher, and SPbGASU Master's student Maksim Gorshkov. "In connection with the struggle for environmental sustainability and the 'green' course in energy development, the construction of nuclear power plants is of particular importance. We are developing methods for building power stations with the use of cutting-edge technologies. The conference at SPbGASU was organised at a high level and was very interesting for us as professionals," said Ulyana Mazurina.

Much interest was attracted to the report on structural, organizational and technological solutions for the overhaul of industrial roofs made by Victoria Mazur, associate professor of the Donbas National Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture. SPbGASU’s graduate students Igor Alekseev, Nikita Bazhukov, Valery Nikonov and Margarita Chunaeva as well as Denis Koprov, a student of St. Petersburg State Forestry Engineering University, shared their findings related to organizational management of new construction projects, reconstruction of industrial and civil buildings and facilities.

The advantages and disadvantages of CLT panels for the construction of frame buildings were explained by SPbGASU Master’s student Darya Vykhryshchuk. "There is no doubt that participation in the conference provides experience in public speaking. Colleagues from different universities have presented a lot of materials, and it was useful to listen to them," said Darya.

Organising scientific conferences is a painstaking task for the academic staff of our Department, which aims to contribute to the development of the construction industry.

Young researchers also take an active part in this work, which is proved by their informative papers that will be published in the conference proceedings," commented Cheynesh Bakhtinova, associate professor at SPbGASU’s Department of Construction Management.
