Participation in the Summer School provides young architects with the opportunity to visit a unique place of Russia – the city of Vyborg located in the Leningrad region.

Students will prepare their own design projects of modern tourists’ facilities within a historical surrounding.

The Summer School participants will visit Vyborg, explore the city and its architectural sites such as Central City Public Library (arch. A.Alato), the knight’s castle of the 13th century, and historical fortifications.

Program:

  • The first part includes series of excursions and lectures carried out by experienced teachers and specialists of SPbGASU. You will learn about design principles of modern tourists’ facilities within a historical context as well as the public space formation. An important part of the program will be a site assessment for further designing.
  • During the second part of the Summer School program each student will design his/her own project under the guidance of teachers. They will build a model of a tourist complex that includes a residential unit and an architectural environment around it, using a laser cutting technology.
